A motorbike repair shop has been fined for “selling a firearm” and “failing to take appropriate precautions”.
A spokesperson for the Department of Justice (DOJ) said the matter is now under investigation.
The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) said a police officer had visited the premises to investigate the sale.
A spokesperson said: “The matter is being investigated by the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Service and the matter will be referred to the Gardai for a decision.”
