The grocery chain supermarket giants have joined forces to open a new online store in London with a focus on groceries.
The chain, which already offers a number of stores in the UK and Ireland, announced on Tuesday that it will open the new outlet in St James’s Park, where it already has a store.
It will be the first online grocery store in the city.
The new online grocery business will offer “a wide selection of products, products from local brands, and a wide range of discounts and promotions” in the area.
It is expected to open in mid-October.
The move comes amid a wider push by Amazon and other online retailers to expand their presence in London.
The launch comes after the retail giant announced it was planning to open 50 stores in London over the next two years.
Amazon will also be expanding its retail footprint in the capital, with the launch of more than 100 new stores in Covent Garden, London’s financial district, this month.
Amazon has also signed up to sell online through a range of retail partners, including Carrefour and Aldi.
