Amazon is selling products and services in the US that the company has long argued are illegal, even as it is not a US state, a New York Times report said Friday.
“Amazon is selling all sorts of cannabis products and some of them are legal, some of which are not,” the Times reported, citing “two people familiar with the matter.”
The company’s US business is “very different than other places,” the report said, adding that some of the products were sold to customers in other countries.
Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Times said Amazon is offering services in many categories, including wine and beer, that were previously sold by the company in the United States, including a product that allows users to grow plants in their home.
Amazon also sells a cannabis-based product that has been licensed to be sold in Canada.
