Winnipeg, Manitoba — McDonald’s Canada, the fast-food giant known for its hamburgers, is opening its first butcher shop in Winnipeg.
The fast-casual burger chain is opening a branch in the city’s downtown area on Sunday.
The new branch will open up next week.
The first store is expected to open in 2019.
The city’s Butcher Shop is one of the largest in Canada and has been operating in the neighbourhood for about 20 years.
McDONALD’S Canada is looking to grow its business in Winnipeg’s Downtown and surrounding area and is seeking an experienced butcher to open a shop in the area.
The Butcher Shop has a menu of burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups and entrees.
The first store will open in Winnipeg on Sunday and will have a selection of meats, cheeses, desserts and frozen pizzas.
