Apple’s new Apple TV has been officially unveiled, and the new box is set to arrive at retailers in the coming weeks.
However, while the Apple TV’s name is familiar to the tech geek crowd, its true functionality is not.
Apple’s big announcement is that the new Apple television will also include Apple’s upcoming Apple Watch, which will be available for purchase in the US, UK, and Europe starting March 17.
The Watch will be compatible with the latest version of Apple’s OS X and iOS, and will be the first Apple TV device to run the latest software, making it an incredibly powerful piece of hardware.
The Apple TV will come with three basic configurations.
The base model will cost $99, while a Deluxe model will set you back $149.
The Apple Watch Sport model will be priced at $199, while it comes with a new model of OS X called Mavericks, as well as iOS 9.2.1.
The Deluxe Apple TV, which starts at $299, includes a bigger display and the ability to connect to the internet.
In addition to the Apple Watch and Watch Sport, Apple is also adding the Apple CarPlay and Siri-powered iPhone 5S, which are also available for preorder at the time of this writing.
For the time being, Apple hasn’t released any details about the new hardware, though it does confirm that it will be launching a new line of smartwatches in the months ahead.
