Amazon and Apple are collaborating on a new smart toy that’s a new step for Alexa.
Amazon’s Echo can now ask Alexa to open a new tab, show you a new video, or even answer your questions in a conversational voice.
That means you’ll never have to leave your house again.
Amazon is calling it the Echo Companion, and it comes with two new features: it can ask Alexa for directions, and can ask you to buy something with your voice.
The Echo Companion can also ask you a question when you’re not looking at it, and you can even ask the voice to send an email, or play a game.
The Companion comes with a camera and microphone that can act as a speaker, and Amazon says it will be able to turn the camera on and off to make the camera and microphones more powerful.
The voice-activated Echo Companion will be $149, and the Echo can also connect to an Apple TV.
Both products are expected to launch in Q1 of next year.
