If you’re a fan of frozen yogurt, the shop closest to you is your best bet for scooping it up.
If you live in a cold climate, you can buy frozen yogurt in stores or online.
You can also shop online at your local farmer’s market, or at the frozen yogurt parlor on the National Mall.
“I’ve been here almost four years, and I haven’t even tried it,” said Ashley Rupp, a 23-year-old Washington resident who works in retail and has never been to the store.
The shop’s owner, Katie Siegel, said it’s been a success.
But the shop is not the only place where frozen yogurt can be purchased.
On its website, the National Frozen Yogurt Association lists six frozen yogurt places in the District: Candy Cane, 1630 Pennsylvania Ave.; Mall of America, 1620 Pennsylvania Ave.; The Garden, 1625 Pennsylvania Ave., at 17th and Pennsylvania; Stash & Biscuits, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave, at 15th and Park; Chocolate Fudge & Cream, 1721 Pennsylvania Ave; and Lollipops, 1621 Pennsylvania Avenue, at 17.9th and 11th Streets.
So far, there’s been no indication that the shops are going out of business.
But Siegel said the shop has been receiving complaints about a number of items that customers have complained about, including some frozen yogurt containing ingredients like eggs, corn syrup, and other products that could be hazardous to the environment.
Siegel said she hopes the issue will be addressed and that the stores continue to offer frozen yogurt to customers who have bought from them before.
As for how customers can pay to get frozen yogurt at the shops, Siegel explained that customers can contact the National Freeze Yogurt Authority, which is part of the National Association of Confectioners and Food Service Industries.
Once the frozen yogurts have been tested and certified safe for consumption, the agency can certify frozen yogurt sold at a frozen yogurt shop as being in compliance with the rules, according to the association.
To date, the association has certified five frozen yogurt outlets in the city: Lunch Cafe, 1605 Pennsylvania Ave./Pine & Woods; The Garden, 1700 Pennsylvania Ave/Pine; and Chocolates, 1700 Pa.
Ave./Park.
While the frozen Yogurt Authorities does not have the authority to make specific regulations for frozen yogurt establishments, Selleisen said the agency has been monitoring the frozen industry closely and will continue to monitor it.
