Jets coach Todd Bowles is taking the blame for his team’s 8-6 loss to Carolina, saying the team’s defensive woes and offensive woes contributed to the loss.
Bowles was asked by reporters if he felt he contributed to a loss that was in many ways a reflection of the defensive effort.
“Yes, absolutely,” Bowles said.
That was a little bit of a reflection on how our defense played and how we weren’t able to create offense.
So yes, I think that was a big reason.
But as you go into the next game, the defense has to get better.
I thought our defense was pretty good against the run.
If we’re going to have a chance to win the game, we have to create the opportunities and make the plays.
And you know what, we did a pretty good job of creating the opportunities.
We just had some mistakes.
I think our defense is a little better than it was the last game.
We’re going back to Carolina and hopefully we can get back on track.
We’ve got a game in hand.
We have to get back to where we are in terms of being a team that can compete in the playoffs.
“Bowens said he would like to see the Jets get some more help from their defense and not just relying on one player.
He added he’s not happy with how the Jets’ defense played last week, saying he’s frustrated that he’s having to explain how a defense that has struggled at times this season is going to win games in the season’s final week.
We’re not a good defensive team, and we’ve got to be better.””
I think that’s a problem with our defensive players.
